Currently, there are a large number of cough medicines. One of them is Eucabal syrup.

This is a plant-based drug. The use of cough syrup Evkabal allowed children and adults. The drug has sekretoliticheskim and expectorant actions.

The composition of this drug has several medicinal plants. Thanks to their interaction, the syrup efficiency is enhanced.

The drug is prescribed for the complex treatment of respiratory diseases.

Medication Evkabal is available in two dosage forms. The first is a dark brown syrup.

It has a fragrant smell and sweet taste. The syrup is available in glass bottles of 100 and 250 ml. The second dosage form is an emulsion used for external use and the preparation of inhalation.

It consists of oil needles and eucalyptus.

The main components of the syrup are: liquid extract of plantain and thyme. Thanks to them, the drug has mucolytic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects.

One of the main components is a plant – thyme. His other name is thyme.

It contains substances such as phytoncides and phenols. They provide a bactericidal effect. Therefore, the drug helps to cope with Gram (+) microorganisms.

Also phytoncides and phenols are effective in fungal flora. In relation to Gram (-) microorganisms, these substances have a bacteriostatic effect, that is, help to stop their reproduction.

Plantain is a medicinal plant known for its anti-inflammatory effect. The mucins contained in it reduce the irritability of the mucous membranes of the respiratory organs, thereby reducing coughing attacks.

Auxiliary substances include: purified water, sugar solution, methyl- and propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate.

Evkabal drug prescribed for coughing of various etiologies. Indications for its use are inflammatory lesions of the respiratory system. In addition, the syrup is used as a complex treatment for specific pathologies of the lungs.

Due to its softening effect, it will help get rid of irritation caused by chemical or physical effects.

The indications include:

  • Pharyngitis.
  • Laryngitis.
  • Bronchiolitis in young children.
  • Tracheitis.
  • Infectious rhinitis.
  • Acute and exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.

Evkabal syrup is used for inflammation of the lung tissue caused by various pathogens. When bronchopneumonia drug is prescribed as an integrated therapy. It is also used to relieve cough of tuberculous etiology.

Evkabal helps to cope with shortness of breath and relieve symptoms of inflammation in chronic obstruction of the lower respiratory tract in smokers.

Application

The preparation is accompanied by instructions for use, which describes in detail: in what dosages the medicine is prescribed, depending on the age of the patient. Syrup does not need to be diluted with water or other liquids. It is prescribed to babies from 6 months of age.

The required dose for children under 1 year is equal to – 5 ml (a teaspoon) per day. For younger patients (up to 3 years), the frequency of admission increases to 2-3 times per day. Schoolchildren are prescribed 10 ml of syrup — a dessert spoon.

Frequency of intake 3-5 times a day. Adults should consume 15 ml of the drug – a tablespoon.

The frequency of taking the drug is up to 5 times per day.

The course of treatment depends on the nature of the pathology and severity. If the cough began to subside, the syrup should be consumed for another 2-3 days.

On average, the treatment course takes about 2 weeks. During this time, the symptoms of airway inflammation should be stopped. If the syrup does not have the desired effect, you should contact your doctor.

Evkabal Drug Emulsion is used for rubbing. It should be applied to the chest or back with a strip of 3 to 5 cm.

The procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day. To prepare a solution for inhalation, the same amount of emulsion is diluted in 1 liter of boiling water. For 10-15 minutes you should breathe over the steam.

It helps to expand the airways and bring the accumulated secret. In addition, you can prepare a bath with Eucabalus emulsion.

Contraindications

In some cases, Evkabal drug can not be taken, despite the presence of cough. Contraindications include pathologies such as whooping cough, bronchial asthma and allergic reactions to one of the components that make up the syrup.

Emulsion should not be given to children under 2 months. Inhalation treatment is undesirable up to 5 years of age.

Rubbing is contraindicated in patients who have skin lesions and dermatological diseases.

Syrup is not recommended for patients with a history of diabetes mellitus. It should be prescribed with caution if the patient has liver disease, head injuries, a history of epileptic seizures, chronic alcoholism. Medication Evkabal is contraindicated in patients on a low carbohydrate diet.

In addition, it is not taken during pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects

Most often, the drug is well tolerated by patients. Side effects are extremely rare.

Usually they are due to hypersensitivity to one of the components of the syrup. Often, it is propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.

Possible adverse reactions include: pruritus, rash, erythema, mucosal damage and bronchospasm. With the development of one of these symptoms, this drug should be discontinued.

The drug can not be used after the expiration date and in the presence of sediment. The drug should be stored in a cool and dark place. The ambient temperature should not be above 25 degrees.

From the time of manufacture, the drug is stored for 3 years subject to the necessary conditions.

Interactions

Evkabal syrup is not recommended to be prescribed with other antitussive drugs. It should not be taken when using drugs that affect the central nervous system. These include: barbiturates, sedatives and hypnotics.

Syrup enhances their pharmacological effects.

Herbal medicines used for coughing include: Mukaltin tablets, Tavipek capsules, syrups containing Althea root and licorice. They are analogues of the drug Evkabal.

The drug substitutes also include: Cough tablets, Pertussin solution, Omnitus syrup, Potassium iodide.
